学术报告1:Achievements in SOFC Durability Research
报告人:Professor Harumi Yokokawa
National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST),Tsukuba, Japan
Dr. HARUMI YOKOKAWA received his Doctor degrees of Engineering from the University of Tokyo, Japan. In 1982, he became a Senior Researcher in the National Chemical Laboratory for Industry. In 1995, he became a group leader of the National Institute for Materials and Chemical Research. From 2001 to 2004, he served as the deputy director and also as a group leader of the Fuel Cells group in the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). From 2004-2009, he served as the principal research scientist and the leader of the same group. After retirement from AIST, he continued to act as the project leader of NEDO SOFC project as invited research scientist.
Dr. Yokokawa has introduced a new aspect of the high temperature thermodynamics. By constructing the generalized chemical potential diagram, the compatibility among high temperature materials can be clarified, which is extremely useful for analyses on the electrode/electrolyte interfaces in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC). Dr. Yokokawa has provided a systematic approach of investigating the SOFC materials; this consists of the thermodynamic analyses on stability and materials compatibility, associated experimental detection of elemental movement in the vicinity of the electrochemical active sites by secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) as well as normal electrochemical characterization. This systematic approach and its derived achievements make it possible to understand relation between fundamental aspects of materials and SOFC stack developments.
Basedon the deep understanding of materials in stack developments, he contributed to one chapter in Fuel Cell Handbook, published from Wiley (2003). He also contributed to one chapter on cathode in the “High Temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells, Fundamentals, Design and Applications,” published from Elsevier (2003). In Fuel Cell Handbook, he also acted as the international advisory board member to assist the editorial considerations concerning solid oxide fuel cell fields.
Dr. Yokokawa has written about 300 papers, his main work on the thermodynamic database and its utilization in the energy-related fields has been awarded from the Japan Information Center for Science and Technology (1989), from Tsukuba Foundation for Chemistry and Bio-technology (1997) and also from the Minister of the Agency for Science and Technology (2001).
Dr. Yokokawa was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award from the High temperature materials division, The Electrochemical Society, Inc. in 2002, the Christian Friedrich Shoenbein Contribution of Science Awardfrom the European Fuel Cell Forum in 2004, the Society Award from the Japan Society of Calorimetry and Thermal Analysis in 2006, and also the Fuel Cell Seminar & Exposition 2011 Award for the exceptional work in the field of fuel cell related technologies.
